The Underwater Nomads Ph

"How can I make a real change?" This was my question in mind. I wanted to make a significant change but carrying out my mission alone seemed to achieve very little of my goal. I began inviting friends and colleagues and teaching them the basics of Freediving so that I will be able to open their eyes of what's truly happening underwater in the ocean and that it's a lot different when you just look at the surface. Allowing the people around me to see the horror of the impact of human activity on the ocean, they joined me in my mission to protect the ocean and help conserve marine life.

Now, we are not that many yet, but surely we are enough to start making significant changes and make the people see our vision of the oceans now and in the next few years as we continue to accomplish our mission and fulfill our duty as Freedivers.

The Underwater Nomads was created last year in the city of General Santos, Philippines, with just about five members (2018) and after uploading Freediving videos on Facebook and sharing my mission and vision, people have been starting to send me messages about how they can join my journey underwater. Now, we have about thirty members locally and we are aiming to influence more people internationally.

The Underwater Nomads Ph also operates under these contracted names: UWNph and UWANOsph.

WHAT WE DO

Together with the local government units in Region XII of the Philippines and several private organisations, we organise clean-up drives and other conservation programs. Working hand in hand with people who have the same passion as ours makes our mission more attainable and our journey more enjoyable and rewarding!

Internally, UWANOsph also organises fundive sessions to allow team building and welcome new members. This also lets us see the conditions of the areas where we usually Freedive regularly and keep records of the problems.
